burrup rock art support
05 August 2007
The Dampier Archipelago (in the Pilbara region, off the north-west coast of Western Australia) comprises the largest concentration of petroglyphs in the world, and the largest collection of standing stones and other stone arrangements in Australia. The heritage value of the place is clearly threatened by ongoing industrial development AND PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD ARE STANDING UP FOR THE BURRUP
This sunday we are walking to Australia Hill where we will take the 'stand up photo' (optional of course) and either complete the 2.5 hour circuit walk or return to Poimena. (we won't be going if it's pouring!)
MEET at Poimena, on top of the Blue Tier at 10:30 for the 30 minute walk to Australia Hill (gradual uphill with some rock hopping).
WHEN : Sunday 5th August
BRING: warm coat, beanie etc! The ground will probably be fairly wet, so bring good boots, food and drink.
